Pataleshwar Cave Temple, dedicated to Lord Pataleshwar - God of the Underworld, dates back to the eighth century. It is a perfect example of rock-cut architecture.It is situated on the Jangali Maharaj Road in Shivaji Nagar.The single rock has been cut into pillars, seating areas and similar rooms, which are the grandeur of the temple caves. The shrine out there is dedicated to Shiva and the Nandi.
There is a cave in the vicinity of the temple, the reason for the temple getting its name as the 'Pataleshwar Cave Temple'.
Here is also a museum which exhibits a grain of rice, with 5000 characters engraved, recorded in Guinness Book of World Records. The temple opens daily from 08:00am till 05:30pm. Many local rickshaws operating, are the easiest way reach Patleshwar Cave temple.
